2016 will mark the first year for Mazda’s entry in the
sub-compact SUV market, or Cute Ute, as the segment is referred to by
some. While the new CX-3 has
resemblances of the large CX-5, the CX-3 has it’s own style. Small in stature, it has a more muscular
stance than many of the others in the category, which gives it a more serious
look.
Car and Driver says, “The CX-3 steers with precision, corners
with aplomb, and scoots down the road with a verve that is almost universally
absent among crossovers. Toggle the Sport mode and the quick-shifting automatic
transmission takes on Porsche-esque logic, downshifting as you brake for an
upcoming corner. Without question, Mazda has built the driver’s car—er, crossover—in
this burgeoning segment.”
Official pricing starts at $19,960 for the base Sport
model (excluding destination
charge). All-wheel drive will be available
for an extra $1,250, with availability beginning in August.
