EPA Names Mazda Most Fuel Efficient

In a year that has seen other manufacturers take a self-inflicted beating for trying to outsmart the Environmental Protection Agency, Mazda has once again been praised by the EPA for fuel economy.

In its most recent Light Duty Fuel Economy Trends report, the EPA named Mazda the most fuel efficient manufacturer in the US. This is the third straight year that Mazda has taken the top spot for fuel efficiency.  Interestingly, Mazda has accomplished this without a hybrid or electric car.  Mazda's SKYACTIV® Technology is credited with advancements that make the difference.  According to Mazda USA, "SKYACTIV is a suite of component and engineering technologies intended to cut vehicle weight and improve engine efficiency for outstanding environmental and safety performance, without sacrificing the brand’s renowned driving pleasure".

According to the EPA, Mazda had the highest fleet-wide adjusted fuel economy performance, at 29.4 miles per gallon, as well as the lowest CO2 emissions, 328.

Mazda "Kodo" Design at big hit at the LA Auto Show

Mazda took the opportunity of the 2015 LA Auto Show to unveil their 2017 Mazda CX-9.  The Mazda CX-9 is a three row, seven seat CUV, and is the largest vehicle in the Mazda line.

What Mazda has accomplished is to create vehicle that is exceptionally stylish, yet with the functionality you would expect from a utility vehicle.  The 2017 CX-9 will feature a long nose, the distinctive Mazda grill, and wheels that sit at the edge.

The 2017 Mazda CX-9 will also be offered with a turbo-charge engine, called the SkyActiv-G 2.5T.  The hope is that this engine will be available across the Mazda line in the near future.  The initial specs boast 250 horsepower with 310 pound/feet of torque.

The interior features options like Napa leather upholstery, Rosewood trim, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.  The look is that of a vehicle costing thousands more than the expected price.

Mazda's MX-5 Miata Spyder Oozes Retro Awesomeness

The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is already being almost universally acclaimed as a great car.  It is a car built with the driver's experience in mind, and an affordable price point.  From all accounts, it is an exceptionally fun car to drive.  Thanks to Mazda's Sky-Active technology, it completely out-performs what you would expect from a 155-horsepower 4-cylinder engine.

At this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas, Mazda has taken things a step further with the Miata Spyder concept car.  Car and Driver says that the "Spyder has a retro vibe with a canvas bikini top and a rich leather interior that would look fantastic in a production Miata."  The color combination of the Mercury Silver body finish with the copper-colored manual top with matching leather interior is both retro and elegant.  The interior also features plenty of old-school analog gauges, along with the functionality of a touch-screen infotaiment system.

The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a perfect starting point to create breathtaking concept cars like the Spyder.

Is this going to be new version of the RX-7? Yes, please!!

So what is this shadowy figure?  Facts first, speculation later.  This is what Mazda teased at the Tokyo Motor Show.  Quite obviously a sports car concept, but many Mazda enthusiasts are hoping that this will be a new incarnation of the RX-7.  Would a rotary engine be too much to wish for?

Mazda places 2 vehicles in World Car of the Year nominations

Congratulations to Mazda for placing two vehicles in the running for the World Car of the Year honors.  The new CX-3 crossover and the MX-5 Miata were both nominated.

The CX-3 has received high praise from many reviewers for it's looks, performance, and practicality, but to be nominated for World COY in it's first year is quite the accomplishment.

2016 Mazda CX-3
The MX-5 Miata has undergone a bit of a re-engineering for 2016.  While the actual horsepower has decreased a tick, performance is better, with a lighter body, and improved handling (electric assist steering) and suspension.  Zero to 60 times have improved to under 6 seconds.

Want to test your true racing skills? Try an all-Miata race

Back in it's infancy, NASCAR was a far different animal than it is today.  Keep in mind that the "SC" in NASCAR stand for "Stock Car", meaning as it comes from the factory.  Obviously, now, while a driver may be driving a Ford, Chevy, or Mazda in a NASCAR race, it is really in name only.  The cars share very little in common with their namesakes.

One of the purest forms of racing today is the Sports Car Club of America (founded in 1944), which Motor Trend calls "the backbone of amateur road racing in this country".  One of the most popular and growing segments of the SCCA is the "Spec Miata", and they've even started a pro version this year.

The Miata's reputation has always been that of a great driver's car, tough and affordable, which makes it a great choice for people who want to get into competitive racing without breaking the bank.

You can read more about Spec Miata Racing here, or visit Lujack Mazda to take a look at the re-designed Miata for 2016

Consumer Reports Recommends the 2016 Mazda CX-5

Mazda has updated the CX-5 for 2016, and Consumer Reports apparently approves of the updates.  Most notably, the interior has been revamped, as has the center stack and infotainment system.  Another great feature is the new drive mode selector that lets the driver choose between economy and performance mode.

Introducing the All-New Mazda CX-3

2016 will mark the first year for Mazda’s entry in the sub-compact SUV market, or Cute Ute, as the segment is referred to by some.  While the new CX-3 has resemblances of the large CX-5, the CX-3 has it’s own style.  Small in stature, it has a more muscular stance than many of the others in the category, which gives it a more serious look.
Car and Driver says, The CX-3 steers with precision, corners with aplomb, and scoots down the road with a verve that is almost universally absent among crossovers. Toggle the Sport mode and the quick-shifting automatic transmission takes on Porsche-esque logic, downshifting as you brake for an upcoming corner. Without question, Mazda has built the driver’s car—er, crossover—in this burgeoning segment.

Official pricing starts at $19,960 for the base Sport model  (excluding destination charge).  All-wheel drive will be available for an extra $1,250, with availability beginning in August.

2015 Mazda 3 named one of Car and Driver's "10 Best"-

For the second straight year, the Mazda 3 has been rated on of the "10 Best" by Car and Driver magazine, and there are any number of reasons why.

Starting at just $16,945, the Mazda 3 offers phenomenal value.  While, as with any car, you can add different options packages, the base model still offers plenty to get you excited.

The 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine offers plenty of get up and go with 150 horsepower (there is also an optional 2.5 liter 4-cylinder boosts that by another 29 horses- ok, so that's fun!).  At 29 mpg city/41 highway, it offers a great combination of performance and economy.

The interior looks great, with an eye towards keeping the driver's eyes on the road, and a great looking instrument cluster.

Overall, Car and Driver gives a glowing assessment of the Mazda 3.  "Indeed, Mazda is punching above its weight class when it comes to product. For a company that builds one-sixth the number of vehicles of giants like General Motors, Toyota, and Volkswagen, its achievements are nothing short of shocking".  Visit our website and take a look at our great selection of this impressive car.
Following in the footsteps of larger Mazda SUVs the CX-3 offers great performance and value.  It features a taller profile than most others in it's class, which provides more of a real SUV feel, rather than a slightly larger compact car.  The zippy 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine provides plenty of pep, along with a very efficient 29 mpg in the city.  The suspension and handling gives a great nearly sports car-like feel.

Safety options available on the CX-3 that aren't available on most competitors include blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning, while a backup camera is standard.  There is plenty of cargo space, with nearly 15 cubic feet with all of the seats in place, and over 44 cubic feat with the rear seats folded down.

Take a look at the Consumer's Reports review of the Mazda CX-5 below, and visit our website for more information.

Mazda accepted the “Red Dot: Best of the Best”

Mazda accepted the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” prize for the all-new Mazda MX-5  on June 29th in Essen, Germany. The “Best of the Best” prize goes to exceptionally ground-breaking designs across many industries; only 1.6% of all submissions received the distinction during this year’s Red Dot Award: Product Design competition.
With its aggressive face, sweeping lines, wide stance and short overhangs, the latest MX-5 is perhaps the most unique adaptation yet of the critically acclaimed KODO – Soul of Motion design theme on which all new-generation Mazdas are based. The company also won two other Red Dot product design prizes this year: a “Red Dot” for outstanding design quality for its all-new small SUV, the Mazda CX-3, and an “Honourable Mention” for the Mazda2. Five new-generation Mazdas have now captured Red Dot awards.
The Red Dot product design jury of 38 international experts evaluated the entries based on criteria ranging from the degree of design innovation to functionality, ergonomics and ecological compatibility. The jury appraised 4,928 submissions from 56 countries this year, selecting the best entries in 31 categories, including vehicles. They have earned the right to bear the Red Dot symbol, an international seal of design excellence. Initiated in 1955 by the Essen, Germany-based Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, the annual product competition is considered the world’s largest.

2015 Mazda3 Promises to Be Better Then Ever

Car and Driver magazine is giving praise to the new 2015 Mazda3. The vehicle was highly received by Car and Driver who stated the Mazda3 was "a model of simplified excellence; an affordable, everyday car that's stirring to operate, and pleasing to sit in". Not only did they love the overall quality and design, they also explained that the interior "has just enough detailing to feel upscale but not overdone, much like the 3 as a whole".

The magazine awarded the Mazda3 as the vehicle with best interior under $30k. Other contenders included the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi S8. That being said, the Mazda3 definitely gives other vehicles a run for their money.
